Vilasrao Deshmukh's condition critical | Son Riteish proposes to donate part of liver

Mumbai: Actor Riteish Deshmukh has proposed to donate a part of his liver to his father and former Chief Minister of Maharashtra Vilasrao Deshmukh, who is suffering from liver and kidney failure.

As per reports, Union Minister Vilasrao (67) was rushed to the Global Hospital in Chennai hospital by a special flight from Mumbai after his condition deteriorated on Monday. He is currently under observation and is on life support system.

According to reports, the doctors are likely to conduct certain tests to examine whether tissues of the minister and his son match or not.

Sources say that as per transplant rules, the doctors can conduct liver transplantation only after an authorized committee headed by the Tamil Nadu director of medical education will give permission.

"We have not ruled out a cadaver transplant either. We will put him on the wait-list. But that is only after he stabilizes," said a doctor from Global Hospital.

Reports reveal that earlier also Deshmukh went to abroad for his medical check-up and there had been a marked improvement in his health.
