'Viswaroop' to earn more than Rs 150 crore

Mumbai: According to South-Indian actor Kamal Haasan, 'Viswaroop' is being touted as one of the costliest Indian films and the actor-filmmaker is expecting to earn more than Rs 150 crores at the box office. Vishwaroop is to be released simultaneously in Hindi and English on January 11. The film also stars Shekhar Kapur, Pooja Kumar, Rahul Bose, Andrea Jeremiah and Jaideep Ahlawat.

Kamal Haasan while promoting the film said "Let alone 100, this film will have to earn Rs 150 crore otherwise it makes no sense to invest that kind of money. You have to make the content good, and then decide its price. That's why the DTH price for the movie is high." The actor has planned to release the film via DTH service first where people can watch it in their homes a day before its theatrical release by paying Rs 1000 for a one-time viewing.

The actor also added "I don't think this will affect the cinema-goer. In India cinema-going is a culture. Watching the film at home and in a theatre are two different experiences. Film piracy takes away more money from the movie distributors than this. At least here the people will pay the money for watching the film."
