New Delhi/Chandigarh: Wednesday morning was chilly and foggy in the national capital with the minimum temperature at 4.8 degrees Celsius - two notches below average.

Visibility was down to 100 metres at 8.30 a.m. and humidity was at 100 percent, an India Meteorological Department official said.

The official forecast a clear day ahead with maximum temperature inching up to 14 degrees Celsius.

The minimum temperature on Tuesday was four degrees Celsius.

On the other hand, Narnaul town in Haryana recorded a minimum temperature of 2.4 degrees Celsius on Wednesday morning, making it the coldest place in the region.

Met Department officials here said that the cold wave and foggy conditions continued at most places across Punjab and Haryana.

Road, rail and air traffic was affected due to moderate to dense fog at most places.

Chandigarh recorded a high of 11.3 and low of 4.2 degrees Celsius.

Bhiwani and Hisar in Haryana recorded lows of 3.6 and 4 degrees Celsius respectively.

In Punjab, Patiala town recorded a low of 5.5 degrees celsius while Amritsar and Ludhiana were at 7.2 and seven degrees Celsius respectively.

Officials said that the night temperatures could dip further.
