Los Angeles: Today many efficient ears remembered American singer Whitney Houston on her 49 birth anniversary, she met a tragic death on February 9, 2012. The singer was one of the world's bestselling artists and the most awarded female. Houston sold over 170 million albums, videos and singles worldwide.
Reportedly, she was found cold and unresponsive in her suit in the Beverly Hilton Hotel at Beverly Hills, drowned in bathtub. The cause of her death was mysterious in the beginning, but later her death was declared an "accidental drowning".
The vocalist began her career singing in gospel, modeling for fashion magazine and also performing with her mother. Mid 80s saw her as an International star after her magnificently successful debut album and several hit singles.
Consequently, she became the first African-American performer to consistently feature on music channel MTV. Her second album Whitney
was so much appreciated that she became the first female artist in the music world to feature at number one on Billboard 200 albums chart and also the first artist to be number one both in US and UK.
Whitney featured as Emma in her fifth and final release Sparkle
. She also appeared in the films like The Bodyguard, Waiting to Exhale, The Preacher’s Wife
and Rodgers & Hammerstein's Cindrella
She passed away three months after filming Sparkle
and this will be dedicated to her memory. The film will be in theatres on August 17.
