World T20: Kallis and company announce arrival in style, beat Zim by 10 wickets

Hambantota: South Africa recorded their first win in the World Twenty20 Championship, thrashing Zimbabwe by ten wickets at the Mahinda Rajapaksa International Cricket Stadium here on Thursday.

After having put into bat by South Africa, the Zimbabwean side couldn't stand in front of the Morkel brothers (Albie and Morney) and Steyn's pacey attack. But the pick of the bowlers for SA remained all rounder Jacques Kallis who bagged four for 15 in his four overs.

Jacques Kallis starred with the ball for South Africa taking four wickets while Richard Levi struck an unbeaten half-century to help chase his team Zimbabwe's meager target of 93 for eight.

Top scorer from Zimbabwe was CR Ervine who made 37 off 40 deliveries with four boundaries. The rest of the Zimbabwe batsmen didn't last too long at the crease.

In South Africa's reply, their openers Richard Levi and Hashim Amla put on a match wining partnership to see SA through with a 10 wickets' big win.

Hashim Amla made 32 off 33 balls that he faced, whereas Levi went on to score his half century. he made 50 off 43 with six boundaries.

The win has put SA on top of Group C.
