X Factor: Christopher Maloney finishes third

London: The American bass-guitarist Christopher Maloney finished third in the final of 'X Factor' 2012. He was the first eviction of the weekend on Saturday night's show.

The singer participated with 25 other contestants in the show. In his final round, he performed the 80s hit Flashdance and duet with mentor Gary Barlow on the Take That song Rule The World, in front of crowd of 10, 000 at Manchester Central.

After his elimination, either James Arthur or Jahmene Douglas will the winner of the series on Sunday night.
The singer had been getting the criticism for the judges throughout the series but thanks to a huge fan following, he always escaped from the bottom two slot.

After the elimination, he was delighted to make it as far.

"I feel like I've already won, the critique and the lies and the negative press, I have won, I am the third finalist and that's fantastic. Thanks to everyone who supported me," he was quoted as saying.

Following his eviction, Nicole Scherzinger has been finalized as the winning mentor on Sunday night regardless of whether James or Jahmene take the title.

Chris told Gary that he was feeling honoured to perform on stage with him. The other judges, who had been so critical with him throughout the series, were kinder on Saturday.

"You have come such a long way, you are a fighter and I respect that," said Tulisa, one of the judges.

While, Louis Walsh added, "You are in the final, everyone in Liverpool is cheering. You always come out fighting and deliver."

Afterwards Chris assured his followers that they hadn't seen the last of him.

He concluded saying, "Thank you so much for supporting me, it's not the end for me, it's just the beginning."
