Lucknow: Documentary on Indian author and expert on the history and culture of Avadh Dr. Yogesh Praveen will be made soon under the banner of Awadh Art Society. Dr Praveen has been one of the eminent personalities of Lucknow and has been awarded with National Award for his book ‘Lucknow Nama’.
He has received several other awards, including the U.P. Ratna Award (2000), the National Teachers Award (1999), the Yash Bharti Award (2006), and the U.P. Sangeet Natak Academy Award (1998).
He also wrote lyrics for the film Junoon and is also known as encyclopedia of Lucknow, besides being the lyricist in the movie Junoon, his co-operation was taken in both films by the name of Umraao Jaan in (1982) and (2007).
While talking exclusively to Pardaphash.com, writer Hafeez Kidwai who will be actively taking part in the making of documentary stated that several aspects of Yogesh Praveen’s life will be showcased in this documentary.
He further laid emphasis on the motive behind the documentary and said: “We will be portraying the old house of Dr Praveen i.e ‘Panchvati’ as this very house will be soon converted into the museum”.
“Yogesh ji has been the one to bring history close to people and individuals by simplifying the history in an easy manner serving it to the audience.” No other historian has been this much known and famous among the common people as usually people are served the knowledge about history and culture in books and that too not in simplified manner but he (Yogesh Praveen) has been successful in reaching out to local people and connecting them in a very comprehensive way”, he added.
Hafeez further added that when they approached Yogesh Praveen, he was very much interested into this project and shared some of the important instances of his life. He told that Yogesh ji got his inspiration from eminent writer Amritlal Nagar.
Yogesh ji has done a lot of work on Awadh and has been one of eminent personalities to have shared the information regarding the culture and other aspects of Lucknow with the renowned directors of Bollywood.
For instance, Yogesh Praveen has been the one to bring into light the grave of Umarao Jaan at the time when Mujaffar Ali was making the film way back in 1982 and this was the time when everyone in Lucknow and nearby came to know about the location of grave of Umrao Jaan.
It would be interesting of the people of Awadh to look into the life and journey of this eminent historian from a different perspective in the form of a documentary.
