12 CRPF jawans shot dead, 7 injured in Naxal encounter

Chhattisgarh: According to the information given by the sources, in an incident that took place today in Chhattisgarh’s Sukhma district where eleven Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) jawans shot dead and four critically injured in a Naxal encounter.

The Chhattisgarh Chief Minister has called out for an emergency meeting, reacting to the critical situation.

The encounter took place at around 12.25 pm between the Burkapal-Chintagufa area in south Bastar area of the state.

The jawans are from the 74th battalion of the central police force, including an Inspector-rank officer, having been injured in the gun battle.

While explaining the incident to the media, a senior officer went on to say: “A helicopter has already left for the spot to evacuate the injured. The encounter is still on.”

The officer further went on to say: “Reinforcement parties from the nearest CRPF camp have also been rushed in.”
