Lucknow (Uttar Pradesh): Lucknow Metro Rail Corporation (LMRC) today revealed smart card for the Metro commuters.
The smart card which was named as ‘Go Smart’ was presented by Metro Man, E Sreedharan who is the principal advisor of the project.
Sreedharan presented the model of Metro travel ‘Smart Card’ to chief minister Akhilesh Yadav on Friday, who was on a review visit to the LMRC project.
The smart card, would allow for cashless and token free travel for Metro commuters in Lucknow.
This card would be a contactless card which would have to be shown at the Automatic Fare Collection gates by passengers.
This ‘Go Smart’ card will serve as ‘Common Mobility Card’ as it can be included with 28 different transport agencies for mobility within the city.
The Metro users in future would be able to use the card while travelling in city buses and UPSRTC buses once the systems will get operational.
Sreedharan in his meeting with Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav also expressed satisfaction over the quality and speed of Metro work and assured that “the project is ahead of its schedule on many fronts and LMRC would be able to commission trial runs of the first Metro rail on the 8.5-km priority corridor by December 1, 2016.
He took inspection of the civil work on Metro route and asked about updates of coach manufacturing at Chennai plant.
Sreedharan also took updates of track-laying and underground Metro work which is expected to start by the end of this month.
