18 lakh UP govt employees joins nationwide strike

Lucknow: About 18 lakh Uttar Pradesh state government employees joined the nationwide strike by trade unions protesting against the anti-labour and economic policies of the central government.

The strike which was called for 24-hours was supported by the state’s 250 employees union protesting the disparities in the pay commission recommendations, and non-redressal of their old, pending demands.

All central trade unions, industrial federations and labour groups have extended their support to the strike.

An employee’s union leader told media persons; there will be no work in most departments of the state.
