4.9-magnitude quake rocks Myanmar, northeast India

Myanmar: As per the information given by the officials, an earthquake with the magnitude of 4.9 rocked Myanmar and other north-eastern states today in the morning.

An official stated that the quake was felt at 10.57 a.m. with its epicenter in the Myanmar-India border region.

Seven of the northeastern states — Assam, Meghalaya, Mizoram, Tripura, Nagaland, Arunachal Pradesh and Manipur — are considered by seismologists as lying in the sixth major earthquake-prone belt in the world.
