Lugo (Spain): A Spanish woman will deliver a baby girl after one month from now by undergoing in-vitro fertilization treatment.
A 62-year-old, woman-Lina Alvarez, who is going to be a mother two decades after having gone through menopause, told media persons that she is scheduled to give birth in mid-October by caesarean section to avoid any risks associated with her age.
She believes that her third time as a mother is a reward for everything that has happened in her life after her oldest child, who is now 27 years, was born with cerebral palsy.
Despite not having a partner, she went through the process of artificial insemination to have her second son, Samuel, who is now 10 years old.
She decided to undergo the same procedure to give her children a sister after ten years.
Vitro fertilisation (or fertilization; IVF) is a process by which an egg is fertilised by sperm outside the body: in vitro (“in glass”).
