New Delhi: Wrestler Sandeep Yadav who underwent a dope test has been tested positive of a banned substance. This comes few days after Sandeep’s roommate Narshingh failed the dope test and had been pleading his innocence since then.
The tests were conducted by the National Anti Doping Agency (NADA). Both the wrestlers who failed the dope test are roommates at the Sports Authority of India’s Sonepat centre.
National Anti-Doping Director General Navin Agarwal said that Narshingh’s ‘B’sample also tested positive for a banned steroid. Also, on Saturday, he appeared before a NADA disciplinary panel. With this, Narsingh might no longer be able to represent India ever.
Also, if he is found guilty, it would come down as a blow for India as it will difficult for them to find his replacement and that too before July 18 which is the last date to send the final list
The tests which were conducted on June 25, the wrestlers were tested positive for methandienone.
As of now, the the Indian Olympic Association (IOA) has withheld Narsingh’s accreditation card.
