Akhilesh Yadav led-UP govt to set world record by planting 6, 70,803 saplings in Agra

Agra: As part of UP CM Akhilesh Yadav’s green drive, 6, 70,803 saplings will be planted in Agra on on July 11. This act is part of SP government’s ‘Clean UP, Green UP’ campaign’.

Confirming the same, DM Pankaj Kumar said, “The state government has announced that on a single day (July 11), a world record will be set by planting five crore saplings in the state. This would be a part of Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav’s ambitious green drive.”
As per reports, all the government departments, village panchayats and NGOs has been instructed by the district administration to pool resources so as to implement the green project in Agra.

Environmentalist Devashish Bhattacharya said, “Urbanisation and poor implementation of forest laws and environmental rules have led to the degradation of vast areas resulting in poor precipitation.”

As of now, the petition filed by Bhattacharya to protect the Keitham reserve forest on the Agra-Delhi national highway is pending before the National Green Tribunal.
