Amar Singh gets promotion as National General Secretary in Samajwadi Party

Lucknow: Samajwadi Party (SP) leader Amar Singh who was brought back into the party after six years, today announced as the National General Secretary of SP.

With party president Mulayam Singh Yadav backed him to the hilt, Amar Singh today appointed as the national general secretary of Samajwadi Party.

Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh, Akhilesh Yadav and senior SP leader Prof Ram Gopal Yadav have seldom been on the same page with the powerful and unpredictable UP minister Azam Khan, but were united in their desire to push Amar Singh out of the party.

Amar Singh has been in the news recently after Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav said that “outsiders” have been interfering in party affairs.

However, he denied that Akhilesh’s barb was directed at him, saying that the chief minister was like a son to him and SP supremo Mulayam Singh Yadav his brother.

Singh was believed to be the centre of the rift within the Yadav clan as CM Akhilesh Yadav.
