Anil Kumble calls meet for appraisal of players

New Delhi: Former India Skipper, Anil Kumble who was recently announced as Head coach of Indian Cricket team, is quite conscientious regarding his designation. His sincerity as head coach can be clearly seen in his approach to call for a meeting with Rahul Dravid, India U-19 coach, National Cricket Academy (NCA) coaches, Test Captain Virat Kohli and limited overs skipper MS Dhoni on Sunday, on the sidelines of the ongoing camp, in Bangalore.

Kumble intended for joint discussions with the stakeholders along with the senior and junior national selection committees which are invited to share their views. He is willing to combine all the stakeholders on the same page which will help streamline the feeder system to maintain the authenticity of Indian cricket and formidably help achieve the long term goals. In the meeting every player will be asked to give their suggestions and  to enhance the bench-strength of a team, which surely looks promising for a better and cohesive Indian Cricket Team.

“Kumble wants things to run in a smoother fashion especially at the India A and U-19 level. He also wants for the coaching at the NCA to be more streamlined. It will be a meeting that’s first of its kind and it’s imperative that all the stakeholders present their views,” a top BCCI official said.

He initiated this move to have a smooth and productive communication with every player, even if they are not in the squad currently. Kumble was reported saying, “As a coach I would like to pick the phone and say listen, you are still part of the team. That is what I will look to do. Hopefully I will succeed in at least telling players who are dropped that they are still part of the system.”
