Another woman raped by cab driver on 4th death anniversary of Nirbhaya case

New Delhi: A cab driver today raped a 20-year-old young woman after offering lift to her in national capital Delhi.

The accused has been identified as Aman who is 30-year-old and a resident of the slum area of Moti Bagh locality in South Delhi.

According to Delhi police, the victim woman who is a resident of Nodia came to Delhi on Wednesday in search for a job was raped by the cab driver on Wednesday-Thursday night in the car which has a sticker of Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) on its windscreen.

Deputy Commissioner of Police Ishwar Singh told reporters here, “The woman was waiting at the AIIMS (All India Institute of Medical Sciences) bus stop around 9 p.m. on Wednesday to go back to her home when Aman offered her a lift.”

He added, “After she got into the vehicle, he molested her on the way. When she resisted, the driver stopped the vehicle somewhere in Moti Bagh and raped her.

The officer said, “But the woman somehow managed to escape from the car and approached a policeman around 1.30 a.m.”

“The policeman instantly informed the nearby Emergency Response Vehicle which took the girl to a police station and sent her for medical examination.”

When media persons asked how the car got a MHA sticker, police said the car belonged to a CISF (Central Industrial Security Force) Head Constable who resides in Kotla Mubarkpur in south Delhi. The car was rented to the accused driver by the owner’s son a week ago.”

Although accused driver has been arrested by the Delhi police who has been sent to judicial custody.
