New Delhi: All India Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen (AIMIM) chief Asaduddin Owaisi has requested all the Muslims to stand in support of triple talaq and raise their voice just like the Tamils fought against the ban on their bull-taming sport jallikattu. He also asked the Muslim people to draw inspiration from the way Tamils protested against the ban on jallikattu.

Owaisi said that Muslims also have their own culture and that no one should interfere in their customs and traditions of marriage and triple talaq and he also urged all the Muslims to raise their voice and protest against the interference of the government in their traditions just like the Tamils protested against the jallikattu ban which even made Prime Minister Narendra Modi to bow down.

Asaduddin went on to say that: “In Tamil Nadu, people protested in lakhs to fight for their tradition. Modi had to bow in front of them. Are we any less than them? We also have our own culture. We will marry and divorce the way we want to. Nobody should direct us what we should do.”

Owaisi’s statement had come at the time when Supreme Court was looking into the matter of triple talaq after several women raised their voice against the triple talaq custom.
