At least 61 killed in Kabul suicide bombers blast

Kabul: In a deadly attack by suspected Islamic State suicide bombers who targeted a mass demonstration in Afghan capital today which left at least 61 people killed and near about 207 other injured.

According to a news agency, three IS fighters exploded explosive belts in the Deh Mazang area where mass of Shiites were holding demonstration.

The incident took place when thousands of demonstrators gathered for a sit-in protest against the route of a planned power line project.

The Taliban based militant group spokespersons Zabiullah Mujahid has denied any kind of role in the deadly attacks. He said that the group has no link with the explosions in Kabul city.

The Afghanistan Ministry of Public Health (MoPH) officials have confirmed that at least 61 persons have been killed and more than 207 other peoples were injured.

Police said one suicide bomber detonated his explosives while the second person failed to explode his suicide vest. The third bomber was killed by security forces at the scene before he could detonate his vest.
