Attack by Hizbul Mujahideen in J&K leaves 3 BSF jawans dead, 7 injured

Anantnag: On Friday, three BSF jawans were killed and seven others were injured during an attack by the terrorists in Jammu and Kahmir’s Bijbehara.

Confirming the same, a police official in his statement to a daily said, “Security forces convoy fired upon by terrorists in J&K’s Bijbehara (Anantnag).” Considering it to be a guerrilla attack on the convoy, the police officials said that three civilians were injure in the attack.

An eyewitness said that there was heavy exchange of firing in the town which is situated on the Jammu-Srinagar National Highway No 1A. Also, the BSF jawans who were injured in the attack were rushed to the Srinagar hospital.

Reports are that the terrorists were hiding inside a government sub-district hospital building.  Gun-battle created a panic, following which the security forces cordoned off the area. Also, additional security forces were rushed to the site of the attack. Also, during their search, the security forces faced a lot of problems as the people pelted stones at them.

The attack has been claimed by the Pak based terror outfit Hizbul Mujahideen.

Hitting on Pak over the attack, CM Mehbooba Mufti said, “Pakistan says it loves Kashmir.What sort of love is this? Attacks on our jawans? Citizens also get caught in crossfire.” The attack was also condemned by former state’s CM Omar Abdullah.
