Lucknow: Senior Samajwadi Party (SP) leader and Uttar Pradesh Urban Development minister Azam Khan today compared himself with Prime Minister Narendra Modi by saying that that he has all the qualities to become a PM.
The SP leader said at a function in Sahranpur, “I have all the qualities to become a Prime Minister. I can make tea, play the drum, cook food and I wear proper clothes.”

Khan said he is neither “bad looking” nor “corrupt”. He further added, “If I become Prime Minister, I assure you, I will deposit Rs 20 lakh in accounts of 130 crore people within six months. I am not like those who don’t keep their promises,” he said in an apparent dig at Modi over his poll promise of depositing Rs 15 lakh each in the account of every Indian.
His remark on playing the drums refers to the PM’s visit to African nations in July this year where Modi made news not just for signing important deals but also for playing the drums like a pro in Tanzania.
Taking a swipe at Modi’s poll promise of depositing Rs 15 lakh in the account of every Indian, the SP leader said, “If I become the Prime Minister, I assure you I will deposit Rs 20 lakh in the accounts of 130 crore people within six months”.
However, this is not the first to take a dig at “chaiwala” on Modi. Ahead of the 2014 elections.
Earlier, Congress leader Mani Shankar Aiyar had said “I promise you in 21st century Narendra Modi will never become the Prime Minister of the country. But if he wants to distribute tea here, we will find a place for him.”
