New Delhi: On Friday morning, four suspected terrorists and one soldier were killed in a gunfight between them and the security forces in north Kashmir’s Baramulla district.
A source close to the development said that the casualties took place when the security forces circled a suspected militant hideout in Khochipora village of Tangmarg and blew the house inside which the millitants were hiding. In his statement to a daily, an official said that the police and two of the army’s Rashtriya Rifles launched a joint operation at around 6:30 am soon after receiving information about the presence of militants in the area.
Following which, the team cordoned off the area.
Talking about the firing the official said, “The exchange of fire continues.”
A senior police official said, “Security forces surrounded Khochipora village in Tangmarg area late on Thursday night following information that two militants were hiding in the village.”
This exchange of gun battle comes a day after the three terrorists were killed in Nowgam sector of Handwara town.
