BJP MP attacked outside Uttarakhand temple; Rawat orders probe

Dehradun: On Friday, Uttarakhand Chief Minister Harish Rawat ordered an investigation into the beating up of the Rajya Sabha MP Tarun Vijay soon after he came out of a temple along with the Dalit leaders in Chakrata which is 180 kms from Dehradun.

Not only the MP but also the Dalit leaders also sustained injuries in the attack.

As per reports, the MP was attacked by a mob while he was visiting the Silgur Devta temple. Also, his car was vandalized. At the temple entry of people belonging to backward castes is restricted.

Vijay, who was rushed to the hospital by the police, is stable.

The attack was condemned by Rawat who gave orders to Garhwal Commissioner to look into the incident.
