BJP President Amit Shah shares lunch with Dalit family, Mayawati calls it melodrama

Lucknow: On Tuesday, Bhartiya Janata Party President Amit Shah dined with a dalit family in Varanasi. His meet has been looked upon as an agenda of the party by the opposition so as to woo the electorate in the 2017 Assembly Polls in Uttar Pradesh.

As per reports, Shah had lunch with the family of Girija Prasad Bind and Iqubal Bind in the Jogiyapur village under Sevapuri constituency of Varanasi. The leaders of the party said that Shah went for the lunch following an invite from the family.

Confirming the same, Girji Prasad said, “I sent a personal invitation to Shahji a few months ago and also left messages for him in his office via phone.” He further said that Shah sat on the ground along with the family members for lunch and was served normal Indian food like rice, dal, chapattis and vegetables.

Hitting Shah’s over the same, UP CM Akhilesh Yadav said, “Even I had food with labourers but I did not ask their caste before eating with them.”
