Both Salman and Aishwarya almost said yes to Padmavati

Mumbai: The whole love saga between Salman and Aishwarya started with Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s Hum Dil De Chuke Sanam in 1999.

And after tasting success in that film, not much of a surprise that Bhansali was quite interested in recreating their onscreen magic in Bajirao Mastani, but duo break-up, and rest was history.

History is repeating itself, as according to sources, Salman and Aishwarya were the first choice for Padmavati, as well.

Apparently, Bhansali approached them two years back and almost got an approval from them. The only catch was, Aishwarya wanted Salman to play the role of the antagonist Alauddin Khilji, who sets out to capture Rani Padmini, but has no scenes with her.
