Breaking: Anurag Thakur dethroned from post of BCCI Prez by SC

In a major setback to the BCCI President Anurag Thakur, Supreme Court today removed him from his post, besides issuing him a notice for contempt of Court.

Also facing the axe is Ajay Shirke who has been removed from the post of BCCI secretary.

Decision of removing the top brass of BCCI is seen a move that is seen a victory for the game of cricket and might be beneficial for the future of cricket as well.

Apex Court mentioned that new administrators will take charge and the names will be suggested soon.

Former cricketer and cricket expert Bisdhan Singh Bedi on the decision stated: “We expected this, this is the way Supreme Court handles this. Hope that the future of cricket will be run in a more effective way and this decision will be helpful for the professional running of the game”.

Cricket expert and former journalist Ankit Kumar Singh talking to on phone stated: “I think it’s a good step. BCCI lacks transparency. For long, it has been run on the whims and fancies of the politicians. You need to have a proper system in place. Hope this leads to a cleaner BCCI.”

Other key aspects that should be kept in mind following this move are; firstly, no person can hold post for more than three years in BCCI. Secondly, no official can serve the term simultaneously.
