Breaking: Gujarat thrash Mumbai to win their first Ranji Trophy title

Indore: Gujarat today managed to defeat Mumbai by five wickets to win their first Ranji Trophy title with the help of a stupendous knock by the captain Parthiv Patel who smashed brilliant 143.

Second-time finalists Gujarat were chasing a challenging 312-run target as they got to a fine start 89 runs for the loss of three wickets and then a 116-run stand between Parthiv and Manprit Juneja (54) helped them stay in a strong position.

Parthiv got to his 25th century in first-class cricket and went on to compile a 94-run stand for the fifth wicket with Rujul Bhat (27 not out) to help Gujarat reach to victory by chasing the target.

Pathiv has been showing some solid form in the recent past with the bat and with this big win he will be knocking the door of the Indian cricket team as well.
