CBI raids former MCD official’s house, recovers Rs 26 lakh

New Delhi: CBI today stated that an amount of Rupees 26 lakh was recovered in a raid carried out at the house of a former Delhi municipal corporation employee in association with a case against a few civic body officials suspected of issuing forged birth and death certificates.

As per the information given by the Central Bureau of Investigation official: “We recovered Rs 26 lakh and some incriminating documents including birth certificates and stamps from the premises of Shobha Chawla, former Sub-Registrar of the Delhi municipal corporation.”

Previously CBI had performed a surprise check at the office of North MCD’s Civil Lines zone on accusations that forged birth and death certificates were being issued by certain officials.
