Chennai boy dies after undergoing hair transplant procedure

Chennai: A 22-year-old medical student who was suffering from partial baldness, died after undergoing hair transplant in Chennai.

The deceased, Santosh decided to go for hair transplant last month; however he died two days after the transplantation. While talking to a leading daily, Santosh’s mother P Josebeen said that soon after the transplant, which went on for 10 hours, her son developed fever.

As per the surgery done at a Transplant centre, Santosh received around 1,200 hair transplants and had paid Rs 73,000 for the surgery. Parents of the deceased have alleged that the doctors present at the centre were not surgeons and that they had gone missing ever since their son passed away.

Also, reports are that the hair transplant centre was only licensed to run a hair salon and that their license had also expired a few months back.

The officials investigating in the case said that the transplant centre also did not have a basic infrastructure. As of now, the centre has been sealed and body of Santosh has been sent for post mortem.
