Congress promises to give 50% quota for women, ‘Cycle’ to poor girl students in its manifesto

Lucknow: Keeping upcoming Uttar Pradesh state assembly elections mind, the Congress Party today released its manifesto in the capital of political hub by the senior leader Ghulam Nabi Azad along with unit chief of state Raj Babbar.




Uttar Pradesh Congress Committee (UPCC) President Raj Babbar while releasing party’s manifesto said that focuses on women in a big way and party would distribute cycles to girl students.

Babbar said the party was committed to safety and honour of women and on being voted to power it would open three women police stations in every district.




The manifesto apart from women, also targeted the youths and farmers. Babbar said the party would ensure 150 workdays under MGNREGA.

The Congress is contesting the state polls in alliance with the ruling Samajwadi Party (SP).




Under a last-minute accord, the Congress is contesting in 105 constituencies while the SP led by Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav is contesting in 298.

The party has mainly focused on the issues like which revolves around the youths, women issues, farmers and Dalits in its manifesto.




The party also targets the three-year NDA rule at the Centre. The party announced free bicycles to girl students from classes 9 to 12, Rs 3 lakh grant to Scheduled Caste youths to start a business, up to Rs 2 lakh low-interest loans for minorities, reservation within reservation for OBC and loan waiver for farmers.

The other leaders who were present along with Raj Babbar are senior party leaders including Ghulam Nabi Azad, Ashok Gehlot, Salman Khurshid, and Shiela Dixit.




The state will go to polls on February 11th.
