Corruption unleashed: Dam constructed for 14 cr, 100 cr spent on maintenance

In what can be considered to be one of the most unusual corruption unveiled in Uttar Pradesh, Gonda district is witnessing a huge blow to its machinery because of flood conditions prevailing in the entire area due to breakage of a dam after heavy rains poured in this season.

The dam was constructed back in the year 2005 during the BSP governance to save the people and nearby villages from the flood conditions. Corruption was done to such an extent that even after maintenance worth rupees 100 crore, the dam collapsed and could not survive even eight days of monsoon.

Administration along with officials who constructed the dam are under severe criticism for the poor quality material they had used in the construction and it is very evident that they have pocketed the huge amount of funds released for its maintenance.

Entire area is drowned in floods resulting in problems for the poor village people and cattle and the whole blame is to be given on the officials who have been digesting this huge amount of budget that was released for the maintenance.

Since the time this dam was constructed, there have been five instances till now that it has collapsed and till now in the last 5 years 100 crore have been invested in the maintenance of dam that was originally made for rupees 14 crore.

Order has been given by the irrigation minister Dharampal Singh to probe the issue and he also said that there are chances of 300 crore scam in this.
