Dalit colony destroyed in Rampur city by administration

Lucknow: Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav government’s tallest minister whose political status is measured equal to him, at the behest of the entire Dalit colony destroyed overnight.

In massive demolition drive carried by Rampur administration near about nineteen houses at Valmiki Basti were demolished here on Monday amid heavy deployment of force.

The demolition drive was carried in the area situated near a newly-constructed shopping complex by the district administration.

The authorities in its warning earlier declared the buildings as illegal encroachment over government land.

In 2015, the issue had hit headlines when hundreds of Valmikis had threatened to embrace Islam if their houses, where they had been living for the past 60 years, were demolished.

The demolition drive was carried by district administration at around 6 am in the wee hours.

The two houses in Valmiki Basti have been completely demolished while a portion of the remaining 17 houses have been demolished, clearing the way for a 34-foot wide road up to the shopping complex.
