Delhi CM Kejriwal, Rahul Gandhi to visit victims in Gujarat Dalit thrashing case

Gandhinagar: Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal and Congress Vice President Rahul Gandhi will sometime soon visit the Una town in Gujarat where few Dalit youths were brutally assaulted last for supposedly killing a cow.

Rahul might visit the town tomorrow; however there is no confirmation on as to when Kejriwal would drop in here. During visit, Kejriwal would meet the victims and express solidarity with them.

As per reports, few people who called themselves protectors of the cow, thrashed the seven Dalit youths on allegations that they had killed a cow and were skinning it. However, the Dalit youths said that they were skinning the cow which had died naturally.

A video of the incident has gone viral on the social media and it is thereby triggering protests in the state. A mob violence over the same led to the killing of a policeman, also a Dailt committed suicide against the incident.

The Dalit who died on Tuesday was among the five from the same community who had tried to kill themselves in separate incidents in the state.

The Dalits who were outraged with the incident set three state transport buses on fire and also vandalized a telephone exchange in Rajkot. Also, a mob comprising 2000 people also attacked two buses in Amreli town in Saurashtra region.
