According to the researchers, people who spend more time on their desk, car or couch have the higher risk of facing premature deaths, cardiovascular disease and cancer and especially diabetes.
As per the study, if we perform exercise for at least 60 minutes a day (such as brisk walking, doubles tennis or ballroom dancing) we will be able to fight against the increased risk of premature death due to prolonged sitting.
Sitting for long hours may lead to various problems such as, it can adversely affect blood vessel function and increase food cravings, causing us to eat more and gain weight.
However, you must take certain precautions to reduce your sitting time. They are as follows:
1) Take small breaks at every half an hour and stand for a few minutes may be for coffee or tea breaks.
2) Park your car as far as you can from the door so that you could walk more.
3) When you are at your home, try to go on a morning walk.
