Earthquake of magnitude 5.7 shakes Japan

Tokyo: Japan Meteorological Agency today gave information that an earthquake measuring 5.7 on the Richter scale rocked Nagano prefecture in Japan.

According to the media reports, earthquake occurred with the epicentre at a latitude of 35.9 degrees north and a longitude of 137.6 degrees east.

So far no major damage or injuries were reported, and no tsunami warning has been issued.

There have been several earthquakes that occurred in Japan recently although not much of damage to man or property has been seen.
