Education will be fun for ICSE students, different syllabus from 2017

New Delhi: Education and learning will be now be interesting and innovating for the Indian Certificate of Secondary Education (ICSE) students from the 2017-18 sessions.

The students to study Harry Potter and Tintin as characters in the new syllabus which will have to followed by all the schools from the new session.




Reports has it that, the Council of School Certificate Examination (CISCE) has approved some of the famous books like Harry Potter for Junior and intermediate school students and laying down the same syllabus for all the schools from 2017-18 academic year.

Moreover, the students will also enjoy reading novels like Amar Chitra Katha and Asterix and the American cartoonist Art Spiegelman’s Holocaust saga ‘Maus’ for Classes from 3 to 8. The kids will also get a chance to study about legendary people like APJ Abdul Kalam.

Grade 1 and 2 students will also have something new and interesting to study, they will get their fill of Noddy with lots of illustrations to study.

CISCE chief executive and Secretary Gerry Arathoon said on Wednesday that if some schools fail to introduce the recommended texts in the coming academic session, they would be granted a year’s extension.




As per the proposed curriculum, nursery students must spend 800 instructional hours per year in school. Similarly, students from Classes 1 to 5 must receive 900 hours of instruction every year in school and those in classes 6 to 8, 1000 hours of instruction respectively.
