Fire broke out in Pune bakery, six workers killed

Pune: According to the reports, in an incident that took place in a Pune bakery where fire broke early in the morning today and six migrant workers lost their lives. The mishap took place in a bakery named Cakes and Bakes outlet near Talab company in Khondhwa Khurd locality of Pune, reports said.

While explaining the incident in the newspaper, Pune mayor Prashant Jagtap went on to say that: “The bakery owner had locked his shop from outside as a result of which the employees of the bakery could not rush out when fire broke out.”

Six workers died due to suffocation although the reason behind the incident is not known yet but it is supposedly caused by a short-circuit and the local people noticed the fire around 5.45 am.

The six workers were migrants from Northern India, were caught unawares as the blaze quickly spread in the entire floor on which they were sleeping inside the bakery.

As per the reports of the rescue operators, the owner of the bakery had locked the shutter from outside, trapping the workers inside and seriously restricting the relief operation.
