Former BSP leader Akhilesh Das joins Congress party before UP assembly polls

Lucknow: Former Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) leader Akhilesh Das today joined Congress party ahead of upcoming Uttar Pradesh state assembly polls lined up next month.

Akhilesh has made re-entry (Ghar Wapsi) in the Congress party in presence of the National President of Uttar Pradesh Congress unit Gulam Nabi Azad.

The former BSP leader after joining Congress party twitted on his twitter account: Honorable Congress Party President Sonia Gandhi and Vice President Rahul Gandhi have given me opportunity to re-enter into the party under their guidance.

Akhilesh Das Gupta is the son of former Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Babu Banarsi Das Gupta and he was earlier associated with the Congress led UPA-1 government as a Steel Minister.

Earlier, he left Congress party over some confusion and joined BSP, the chief of BSP Mayawati has made him party’s National General Secretary but he gave jolt to BSP supremo over not giving ticket of Rajya Sabha membership for second time.

Akhilesh after leaving BSP in the year 2014 blamed Mayawati for asking for bribe of Rs one crore for giving him ticket of Rajya Sabha membership.
