Former MP Shahabuddin shifted from Siwan to Bhagalpur Central Jail

Patna: One day after the prison cell of RJD’s former MP Mohammad Shahabuddin  was searched in connection with the murder case of journo Rajdeo Ranjan in Bihar, he was moved from Siwan to Bhagalpur Jail, as confirmed by officials.

Confirming the same, Inspector General (Prisons) Anand Kishore said that Shahabuddin has now shifted to the Central Jail in Bhagalpur.

BJP leaders have alleged that Shahabuddin played an important role from inside the jail in the killing of Rajdeo Ranjan. Following which they also demanded him being shifted to some other jail.

On Wednesday, the Siwan jail was raided by the Bihar Police in connection with the murder of the journalist. The politician has been inside the jail for more than a decade now. He faces charges of violation of the new Excise Act.

The Bihar Police alleged that killing of the journalist was a pre-planned conspiracy.

Bihar Director General of Police PK Thakur said in its report said that the attackers have been identified.

A Special Investigation Team comprising two DSPs, three inspectors and five sub-inspectors has been appointed to nab the assailants.

The deceased journalist was the bureau chief of a leading Hindi newspaper and he was shot dead in Siwan.
