Girl ragged by five classmates in school bathroom

Jodhpur (Rajasthan): In a shocking incident five classmates have allegedly ragged and stripped a girl student in a bathroom of a private school today.

According to ACP Swati Sharma, police has registered a case against the five accused and the school authorities, the victim girl who had recently taken admission in Class XI, was allegedly ragged and stripped in the bathroom of school by her five classmates on July 8th.

The Police Commissioner Ashok Rathore said, “In the absence of a law against ragging in the school, we have decided to register a case against the five accused girls and the school authorities under POSCO Act.”

The anti-ragging law applies to the college student and not in schools, the Commissioner added.

The District Education Department Officer has been asked to submit a report within two days by the state Education department who had also initiated an inquiry into the matter.

The accused girls have been suspended by the Secretary of the school and they have set up internal committee to probe the incident.
