Gorakhpur brace for encephalitis season, Yogi Power to be seen

Gorakhpur: Yogi Adityanath’s Lok Sabha constituency of Gorakhpur has seen more than 100 deaths because of Acute Encephalitis Syndrome (AES) in 2017.

Talking about AES, it is an umbrella classification under which comes the diseases Japanese Encephalitis (JE), water-borne encephalitis and scrub typhus.

As a Member of Parliament, Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister had actively raised the issue.

In the last week or so, 16 new cases of AES and three deaths were reported from Baba Raghav Das (BRD) Medical College, the biggest in the district.

However, district health officials believes that situation this time around is much better in comparison to previous years.

According to experts, in the months of August to October, individuals are more susceptible to acquiring some form of AES.

Therefore district administration is making every efforts to make people aware of the significance of cleanliness, drink clean and boiled water.
