Govt afraid of Rahul Gandhi, says NCP supremo Sharad Pawar

CHANDRAPUR: NCP supremo Sharad Pawar today asserted that the Narendra Modi-led government is afraid of Congress scion Rahul Gandhi. He further mentioned that moves like initiating CBI probe into the deals made during late Prime Minister Rajiv Gandhi’s tenure are petty attempts to malign his image by framing his late father.

Pawar was in Chandrapur for two days and took part in various programmes. He backed the Gandhi family and claimed that the Supreme Court has already cleared all the charges against Rajiv Gandhi. “Trying to dig out filth years after his death is cheap politics,” he said.

Pawar recalled the works and sacrifices made by the late Indira Gandhi and her forefathers for the country. “People voted the Morarji Desai government to power after Emergency. Soon after coming to power, the Desai government went after Indira Gandhi and put her into the jail. The Modi government too is playing similar hate politics, but the BJP should not forget the price the Desai government paid for it,” he said.
