Hadik Patel out on bail; to spend next 6 months in poll-bound UP

Ahmedabad: Patidar leader Hardik Patel was granted bail today. He has been released after serving more than nine months in jail. Hardik was welcomed by his supporters outside the Lajpore Central Jail.

Hardik Patel was granted conditional bail by the Gujarat High Courtlast week in two sedition cases against him along with a case related to the attack on the office of Visnagar BJP MLA Hrishikesh Patel and also on government properties during the reservation protests.

A charge sheet was filed against Hardik Patel and 16 others in a case of rioting and assault at the Visnagar town. The first rally of the Patels demanding quota in government jobs and educational institutions was held on July 6.

As per reports, Hardik has been given bail in the sedition cases on the condition that he would stay away from Gujarat for the next six months. Also, in the Visnagar, he has been banned from entering the Mehsana district for three months.

His advocate, Zubin Bharda in his statement told the reporters that Mehsana district is a part of Visnagar which means that he would be out for nine months. Hardik has been allowed to in Gujarat for two days and collect his belongings within two days from his house. He has been refrained from visiting the temple of his family deity.

Patel is likely to stay in poll bound UP for the next six months.
