Hema Malini attacks Akhilesh Yadav, says ‘I reached Mathura within 24 hours but where is UP CM?’

Mathura: Bollywood’s veteran actress-politician, Hema Malini who faced severe criticism for not being present in her Parliamentary constituency Mathura during the recent violent incident and instead busy sharing pictures from her recent shoot, attacked CM Akhilesh Yadav over not reaching the site.

In her statement to a daily, BJP MP Hema Malini said, “Within 24 hours, I reached Mathura, but where is Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav?”

The BJP MP further added, “The state government should have taken proper action to eradicate this encroachment. It was only after High Court order, government tried to bring the situation under control. However, there were severe lapses on the part of administration and intelligence network in handling Mathura incident. The administration was aware of 3000 people with weapons there, but could not handle them.”

Hema Malini was not only criticized for posting her pictures during the Mathura incident but was also trolled on Twitter. Also, the actress then even went ahead and deleted her posts and mentioned that she was unaware of the incident.

Condemning the incident, she tweeted, “So so upset by the news from a place which is so dear to me, Will go there again if my presence is required. My heart goes out to the bereaved.” Further, she asked the people of Mathura to maintain peace in the area.

Also, defending Hema Malini over the same, BJP spokesperson Sambit Patra said, “I am sure Hema Malini ji will go to Mathura, she has expressed her grief over what has happened. Let’s not divert from the issue.”

Talking about the incident, the mob attacked the police after the latter went against them for encroachment of the area. Also, the situation went out of hand when the activists of Swadheen Bharat Subhash Sena (SBSS) opened fire at the police so as to disperse them from Jawahar Park. Around 24 including Mathura Superintendent of Police (City) Mukul Dwivedi, Farah Police Station SHO Santosh Yadav and protesters were killed. Also, 40 were injured in the incident.
