Himachal landslide: Toll could rise

Shimla: A huge landslide buried two roadways buses of Himachal Pradesh, killing 46 people and injuring several others.

Indications are that the toll could go up as more than 50 passengers were travelling in the two buses hit by the landslide, which was triggered by a cloud burst.

According to officials, rescue operations were suspended late evening as there were possibility of more landslides.

NDRF teams, police and army rushed to the spot and heavy earth-moving machinery was deployed as well.

CM Virbhadra Singh visited the spot.

The buses had stopped for a tea break in the intervening night between Saturday and Sunday.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi also condoled the deaths.

This happens to be the third such major incident in the state.
