India beat Belgium by 2-1 to win Junior Hockey World Cup after 15-years

Lucknow: Finally a pride moment came for the Indian team who defeated Belgium after a gap of fifteen years by 2-1 to clinch the final of Junior Hockey World Cup which underwent in Lucknow’s Major Dhyan Chand Stadium today.




The host India team which is favorite for spectators produced a heart winning performance to outclass maiden finalists Belgium 2-1 and clinched their second Hockey Junior World Cup title here on Sunday.

Gurjant Singh (eighth minute) and Simranjeet Singh (22nd) scored the two goals for India, who had won their previous title in 2001.




Belgium scored their goal at the death via Fabrice van Bockrijck at the Major Dhyan Chand Stadium here.
