India beats host Bangladesh in U-18 Asia Cup tournament, clinch title

Dhaka: Indian Under-18 Hockey team today defeated host Bangladesh by 5-4 in the last minutes goal during the finals of Asia Cup tournament.

Indian team player Abhishek Yadav’s last minute goal secured victory for India side during their final game against the hosts.

In the last 20 second game India outplay Bangladesh in the title clash.

Indian team started with good note as they secured a goal during the opening of the game.

After some initial error, the team got its first success when they won their first Penalty Corner (PC) in the 6th minutes.

From a counter side, Bangladesh won a first PC to score 1-1 each against India team.

Later, another player M Roman Sarkar from Bangladesh side hits another goal to give lead to the host.

India scored after half time to level the scores, via Hardik Singh’s PC before Dilpreet Singh scored to give them the lead.

With the scores tied and the threat of a shootout looming, Ibungo Singh Konjengbam fired India back in front.

The hosts were not to be denied though, Mahabub Hossain levelling the score after a quick counter in the 64th minute.

However, a quick counter saw Abhishek in the box and his deflection, with seconds left to the hooter, took India to the title.
