India hits out at Pakistan for raising Wani issue at UN

United Nations: India today strongly hits back at Pakistan for raising issue of the killing of Hizbul Mujahideen commander Burhan Wani at the UN, India said that Pakistan “praise” the “qualities” of terrorists as a state.

Reacted strongly, India’s Ambassador to the UN Syed Akbaruddin condemned remark made by Pakistan’s envoy Maleeha Lodhi on Kashmir and Wani’s killing during a debate on human right in the 193-members UN General Assembly yesterday.

Apart from raising Kashmir issue, Lodhi in her statement also mentioned killing of Wani as “extra-judicial”, according to her Wani was “Kashmiri leader” described by Indian forces.

Sources termed Akbaruddin statement as the hardest-hitting against Pakistan till yet in recent times, his comments were Pakistan “extols” the virtues of terrorists and could not gain membership of the UN’s human rights body because of its “track record”.

He declared that Pakistan’s “track record” failed to convince the international community that it should gain membership of the Human Rights Council in this very session of the UNGA.
