Bhubaneshwar: India today conducted successful test fire surface-to-air nuclear-capable the Barak-8 missile which was jointly developed with Israel along with defence testing facility of Odisha.
According to defence official, the missile was launched at around 10:15 am from the Integrated Test Range (ITR) launch pad at Chandipur in Odisha’s Balasore district.
India’s President Pranab Mukherjee congratulated the Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) for the successful launch of the missile.
The official said, the DRDO is planning some more tests shortly.
The Barak-8 missile has been designed and developed by the DRDO and Israel Aerospace Industries and Israel’s Administration for the Development of Weapons and Technological Infrastructure.
