India win Under-19 Asia Cup title, thump Sri Lanka by 34 runs

Colombo: Indian under-19 team performed brilliantly to defeat hosts Sri Lanka by 34 runs and clinch the Asian Cricket Council Under-19s Asia Cup title.



India decided to bat first after winning the toss and managed to pile up a fine score of 273 runs for eight in their 50 overs and Indian spinners did the rest to make sure they win comprehensively against Sri Lanka Under-19.

Himanshu Rana played well to score 71 off 79 along with Shubman Gill who smashed 70 off 92 and took India to a commanding position.

Among the Sri Lanka Under-19s bowlers, pacer Nipun Ransika (3/50) and left-arm spinner Praveen Jayawickrama (3/53) managed to clinch maximum number of wickets.

Chasing 274 runs for win, Sri Lanka Under-19s lost opener Vishva Chathuranga (13) early before Reven Kelly (62) and Hasitha Boyagoda (37) stabilised their chase with a 78-run second wicket stand.
